Nobody has boobs like that.....*
Feb. 8th, 2008 03:38 pmSo, to celebrate the 75th issue of volume 2 of Catwoman (okay, so that is a bit of an excuse!) I give you some of my favourite Catwoman covers (in no order)
Issue 1
What could be a better for the first issue? This shows you all you need to know, Catwoman is in a museum stealing stuff, she’s mad and has her whip out ready to attack! Perfect!
The artist Jim Balent did the cover and interior art from 1-77 with specials and stuff in between. He is the artist who was doing the comic when I started reading Catwoman, so I have a special place in my heart for him, It’s unfortunate or disappointing to me though, that he went on to do some awful comic called Tarot that just looks like porn! Yes I admit that Catwoman has big boobs in his art and it is where the comment from my ‘friend’ came from*, but compared to this other comic she looks like a nun, well to me anyway!
Issue 48
Eekk! What could be worse, being covered spiders? Geez that’s my worst nightmare! Yes it’s a strange choice for a favourite cover, but it shows her horror at having them on her and the panic! I think it really works.
Issue 46 (vol.2)
I LOVE this cover. She’s thinking ‘yeah, what the fuck you looking at?’ It is by Adam Hughes, who I think is doing some of the best covers around. That whole ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover’ thing is all well and good but really comic covers have to look good if you ask me otherwise what’s gonna make you pick up something different?
Issue 49 (vol. 2)
Dude, don’t mess with Ms. Kyle, she will mess you up! And I love the claws!!
Issue 51 (vol.2)
I can’t really put my finger on why I like this cover, maybe coz of it’s simplicity. Check out the numbers!
Issue 52 (vol.2)
What did I say about messing with her?!

And this one which pays homage to another comic, Lone Wolf and Cub
*The subject/title is what a girl I went to high school with said after seeing the Catwoman comic I bought from the paper shop on the way home. That was when I first started collecting comic and also when I knew I was definitely not like the other girls at my all girls’ school!!
