“He should have been here by now” Dave thought as he looked out the window. “He’s normally on time….” He looked at his watch and took a sip of his lemonade.
He decided he should stop worrying about it, a watched pot never boils as his grandma used to say. To distract himself he started looking through a newspaper that was on the table, he really tried to not think about it he really did, but his mind kept going back to it.
“What if he doesn’t come at all, what am I going to do?” he thought getting closer to the glass to look down the street.
As he was about to give up, he saw the man he was waiting for. He jumped up from his seat and ran to the door. He stopped before he opened it to try to look like he was just going outside for something. Dave didn’t want the man to think he’d actually been desperately waiting for him. He opened the door as he saw the man getting closer.
“Good Morning” the man smiled, he was wearing his normal clothes, but today with a short sleeved shirt and his large bag slung over his shoulder
“Hi” Dave said back
The man held out a handful of letters and Dave took them. As the postman walked away Dave quickly flicked through the letters finally finding one addressed to himself.
He looked at the postmark “At last” he said reading ‘Lima Boys Academy’ “I can get out of McKinley”
