This was not how she expected her life to be; she was meant to be happy, in a relationship perhaps, in a well-paid job that she loved.
But instead here she was living alone, relatively unhappy in a badly paid job that she couldn’t stand.
She should have listened to her father when she was younger, he’d always said that joining glee club and being a cheerleader wasn’t going to get her far in life and here’s the proof. If only she’d chosen to put more effort into studying rather than singing and dancing.
She doesn’t think she’s ever been this miserable, even when her parents threw her out for being gay, she'd managed to see the bright side, but she felt stuck now. She needed a job to pay the rent and this crappy, badly paid dead end job was the only one to even offer her an interview. She’d been unemployed for 5 months, she couldn’t just say no. Now she couldn’t see a way out of it.
Rain
She stood leaning up against a shelf of gadgets in the shop she now worked in. She gazed out of the door onto the street outside. It had been raining all morning, normally Santana liked it when it rained, it made her feel better, but now it stopped people coming out to shop, and that meant she had spent all morning stands around doing pretty much nothing, it was starting to rot her brain.
Sometimes this job made her feel like she was in primary school, just looking forward to lunch time and home time. Recently though she had also started looking forward to something else.
White
For the last two weeks she had noticed a woman, about her age, who would walk past to shop every day. The woman was beautiful, like no one Santana had ever seen. She always seemed to wear white, either a white cardigan, white shoes, white bag or white trouser, always white and always with another bright colour.
The woman in white always walked on the other side of the road when she walked past from the left, then walked back in front of the shop. Santana had now started looking out for her hoping that maybe she’d come into the shop so she could see her closer.
It really was the highlight of her day.
Time
It took another half an hour before Santana got a glimpse of white out of the corner of her eye. Immediately her eyes shot to it, and she was granted a marvellous view. It was the woman in white and today she really was in white, everything she had on was white; shoes, trousers and jacket, she even had a white umbrella.
Santana couldn’t believe it, even on the most miserable of days this mystery woman looked magnificent. Her blonde hair blew slightly in the wind, but it looked as if the rain wasn’t even touching her, it took Santana’s breath away.
Smile
The woman walked past the shop and disappeared from Santana’s sight. Her mood turned from happy and optimistic to sad and dreadful. She felt like she was wasting her life, she desperately wanted to meet this stranger; to talk to her, but a woman like that would have no interest in a shop worker. Santana looked down at herself, looking at her ill-fitting uniform and sighed. She should just try to forget any hopes of talking to the woman; she was way out of her league.
But she’ll be walking back again soon, Santana thought, she could just watch her like every other day and just be happy with that.
It took about 10 minutes, but again a glimpse of white got her attention. The beautiful stranger walked past the door and stopped outside the shop and looked in the window, Santana was mesmerised, it was the first time she had stopped and Santana took full advantage of the opportunity to look at the woman. She stared at her taking in her beauty.
But what Santana wasn’t expecting was for the woman to look directly at her and smile. A smile like nothing Santana had ever seen before.
The blonde woman’s smile faltered for a moment as she looked at Santana, then her smile returned and she walked away.
Weak
Santana carried on with her boring day, she served customers, put out stock and then stood looking out of the door again. It was nearly 5 o’clock the rain had stopped and the sun was now setting. She yet again leaned against a shelf and thought about her life while some of the people she worked with talked amongst themselves at the other side of the shop.
Santana stood watching the sunset, as her mind wandered she didn’t notice the woman in white return to the shop window. She looked into the shop looking for Santana, her expression was quite blank for some time until she found her, then she smiled and walked towards the door.
She stood in the doorway right in Santana’s line of vision, Santana focused on her immediately and their eyes locked. Santana found that she couldn’t look away as the beautiful blond walked slowly and Santana thought seductively, towards her. With the light from the setting sun behind her and the white clothes she was wearing she seemed to have an aura around her.
The mix of all of these elements and the woman’s sheer beauty, Santana was unable to have any kind of coherent thought, she was an absolute vision in white.
Embrace
The woman kept walking towards Santana until she was invading Santana’s personal space. If it was any other customer, any other person Santana would probably told them to back the hell up, but with this person, she found that she didn’t mind.
The woman smiled again as Santana stood up straighter and looked up just a little to look into her eyes.
Santana was aware of the beautiful blonde’s hand rising up to the side of her face. Her hand moved a strand of hair from in front of Santana’s face and swept it behind her ear. All the while Santana didn’t take her eyes away from the woman’s face, she couldn’t.
Her hand hovered at the side of Santana’s head and was then lightly placed on her cheek. A feeling of complete contentment spread though Santana, her eyes partly closed taking in the feeling.
When she opened her eyes she saw the woman leaning in closer to her and suddenly the beautiful stranger was kissing her.
It felt like the world had stopped turning and time had stood still.
When they pulled apart the blonde smiled again and stepped away
“You shouldn’t worry Santana, everything is going to work out fine” She said smiling still. Then she turned around and walked away
