you know morgana isn't going to be in the next ep now though, i bet :( very sad!!

i wish the last 4 minutes had been about morgana rather than merlin and the dragon, but hey ho!!

but putting those last 4 minutes aside, WHAT AN ENDING!! i love that they used that special affect from the first ever ep!! AWESOME!! and she took morgana with her!! AWESOME!!

I thought it was amazing.

I'm absolutely thrilled that the kept Morgana's characterisation true. She's so conflicted still - she hates Uther but she could not kill him. I definitely don't think she knew if she was to blame for what was happening or not. She was clearly very conflicted and I loved that because she's not a bad person deep down, she's one beaten by circumstance. Morgause rescuing her was very touching - she gave up everything she wanted in order to save her sister. Although, like you, I think she'll be out of the finale. What happens in the future now is anyone's guess. I wonder if she'll remember that Merlin tried to kill her and what will happen to her in Morgause's care? Hopefully this won't limit her time next year too much though!

As a shipper, all the Arthur/Morgana interaction made me squee. I loved that they kept their relationship intact. They clearly still cared for each other, he's hurting because he didn't keep her safe and whatever she feels about his father she bears him no ill will. Their relationship, however you look at it, is so epic and angst filled.

And Merlin. He fucked up badly and I hope at last there's some proper fall out from it. Last season he killed Nimueh and barely batted an eyelid. This time he attempted to kill and friend (twice!) and whilst Morgana isn't all sweetness and light she's not a villain. I fear his biggest mistake (and regret) will be how he treated Morgana.

As for releasing the dragon....Oh boy, Merlin, have you got some making up to do.

no, i dont think she knew it was her who was causing (kinda) the mass coma. i liked the part where she had the sword and was just looking at him laying there, i wasnt sure what she was going to do!

she had better be in it more than this season or i wont be pleased! and hopefully morgause will be in it again and she has to be in it!!

through out this season it looks to me like merlin is creating all the bad things that are going to happen, just look at last weeks bit with mordred!

dragon is mad and camalot is gonna pay!!

I'm so happy to hear that this is EPIC and AWESOME, and Morgause saving Morgana makes my knees go weak - although I am wibbling that Merlin's beaviour is twatty. Oh Show, don't make me dislike Merlin!!

Amazing, amazing episode - and I know the popular viewpoint seems to be to call Merlin an idiot for what he did, but honestly, I watched the ep completely bleeding for him. He was trying to save a city full of people, and being told the only way to do it was to kill a friend - what a completely shitty situation to be placed in! It was obviously killing him to even consider what had to be done, but he could feel how powerful that sorcery was - it was even affecting him, but clearly not affecting Morgana, so he had no reason to disbelieve the dragon.

I feel tremendously sorry for him and for Morgana. All either of them has done is made human mistakes in trying to save the people they love, but this is how things have ended up.

is sounds really epic and am kind of glad Merlin is actually becoming more manipulative and cunning in getting things done rather than just being pushed around or being told what to do. By the way it reads it sounds like this season has been about pushing merlin around and he takes it miserably but NOW, when push comes to shove Merlin is actually now not afraid to be darker and manipulate things to his advantage this time. And not caring really who gets in his way to meet the ultimate goal.

This does sound like it sets the ground for Merlin and Morgana and indeed Morgause to be enemies, and at the same time Arthur and Merlin will be tested down the track when all this and Merlin's other secrets are bought into the open.

I haven't watched the episode, but does anyone think this is what the Dragon wanted all along, he warned Merlin against Morgana so they would turn against eachother and he'd be free...anyway, can anyone tell me about Arthur and Morgana, did they actually interact for the 3rd time this season?!

A big proportion of the episode is Arthur, Merlin and Morgana running around Camelot on their own, trying to keep Uther safe.

There's a lot of interaction ranging from him being concerned for her and looking out for her, to his frustration that she doesn't know why she's not asleep like everyone else.

When he goes off to fight the knights alone, she's terrified that he's going to die.

After her disappearance he is all 'I failed to protect Morgana' angsty.

I really liked it because it cemented their relationship; whatever she wanted, she really didn't want Arthur to die and he's clearly upset by his failure to keep her safe. There is still nothing there that makes them enemies and that complexity of relationship could supply us with such wonderful angst potential in the future.

I don't know why people are getting so up in arms about Merlin's actions. READ THE LEGENDS people. Merlin is a BAD ASS and not always for the better. Merlin is mighty and powerful and ruthless when it suits him to be and this show if it does what the TBTB says it will won't shy away from that. We had glimpses of it in season 1, when Merlin ruthlessly slayed Nimueh (amongst others). Merlin is a killer people, always has been. Lucky for Albion it's for the greater good and not indiscriminate.

The same for Morgana. Morgana is also powerful and evil and utterly ruthless. This is how they become their future. I mean come on, last week Morgana was ready to sacrifice an entire kingdom and all those she loves at the drop of a hat, which makes her actions no less commendable than Merlin's appear to be in this episode.

Again, the same can be said for Gwen and the NOT shying away from her obsession and great love for Lancelot, the eventual queen's champion and the the lover who she betrays Arthur for. These legends are NOT happy making stuff and the show as fluffy and ridiculous as it is at times, still remembers this.

I can't wait to see the show tonight. It sounds EPIC. Merlin & Morgana are my favourite characters, so anything that involves them is something to look forward to.

Merlin, & Morgana, as little as her screen time has been this season (and it is SHOCKING how she has been little more than a glorified extra for the most part) have absolutely NAILED their parts this season. Colin is an incredible talent, and they're fantastic together onscreen. They are lucky since they get the much more meaty (well, as meaty as a family show on the Beeb at Saturday tea time can get) storylines.

And by God was it worth it. I just want to give Merlin a big hug. I don't think Morganna knew she was causing it all so i want to give her a hug too. She must have been so confused about why merlin was killing her.

And merlin setting the dragon free was a little less epic than i was expecting i wanted him to blast the chains away with fire and amazing special effects. But nevermind. :)

I've really missed morgana this series but i think that in the 3 episodes she has really been in there has been so much character development.

One: He was under the duress of the disease effecting his judgment and sluggish-ing his mind. Had he not been afflicted with the enchanting disease he may have (or may have not) mentally made better decisions and realize a higher morality.

Two: Even without the mental affliction souring his judgment, it was certainly STILL a lot of stress and pressure to have such a dead-line decision coupled with such high stakes of all of Camelot (which is why he does not become king, and Arthur does, as Arthur can make better decisions under pressure weighing everything into account and acting much more noble and more braver). So it was a lot of pressure for a kid (then add a disease to it and you've locked down doom).

Three: Merlin had never had a father figure in his life until as of late (Guyis). The benefit of having a father model in his earlier life would have imbued him with a finer sense of how to treat the fairer sex and how to be more honorable than to cheat a girl's life behind her back under a false lull. Merlin never grew up with a father. As a result what he did was not a very manly thing to do.
